Purpose

This document provides a structured approach to troubleshooting failed pricing calculations in the quoting system. It outlines common setup errors and diagnostic methods to help users resolve issues before escalating support tickets.

Common Error Messages when a quote fails to price

Print Area of #### results in no printable stock sizes
Processes and stock are not mapped to the same press
Front and Back Processes are not mapped to the same press
Back Process is not mapped to a press
Front Process is not mapped to a press
All applicable sheet sizes for this stock are inactive
Stock has no sizes defined that can be printed on the presses it is mapped to
The selected press requires a press option to be selected
Stock is not mapped to the preferred press/press type
Stock has no presses mapped to it
A Stock size must be selected for this stock
Preferred sheet size for this stock is inactive. Stock Size: ####

Three Ps: Paper (stock), Press, Process

Failed to get price errors are often related to one or more of the following:   
  1. Paper (stock) – Issues with stock size, mapping, or availability.
  2. Press – Incorrect press configurations, settings, or compatibility.
  3. Process – Missing or misconfigured process mappings.

1. Paper (Stock)

  1. Check Stock Size: Verify that the sheet size fits the press.
  2. Stock Cutting Rules: If the sheet does not fit, confirm that cutting rules exist to resize it appropriately.
  3. Stock Group Mapping: Ensure stock is assigned to the correct press via stock groups rather than individual stock records.
  4. Stock Status: Confirm that the stock is active and has valid stock sizes defined.

2. Press

  1. Press Type: Ensure the correct press type (sheet-fed vs. roll-fed) is used.
  2. Grips and Bleeds: Check settings to ensure they allow the required print area.
  3. Press Cost Components: Review cost setup for missing or conflicting settings.
  4. Size & Quantity Ranges: Ensure there are no gaps in the minimum and maximum allowed sizes or quantities.
  5. Speed Sets: Confirm that speed limits do not conflict with the quote’s requirements.

3. Process

  1. Process Mapping: Ensure the process is correctly assigned to the press.
  2. Printing Processes: Confirm that all necessary printing processes are enabled and properly linked to the press.
