Introduction
Presses can be defined in printIQ with ‘Options’.
This is effectively a copy of the base press configuration with a slight change in the presses’ specifications.
Examples of this may be a variation on a press definition with no grips or separate cylinder details.
When pricing a quote, unless a press is specifically selected, all the options are included in the ‘Get Price’ calculation.
This is fine when there are only one or two press options defined.
However, some workflows require numerous press options to be created, such as flexographic presses with a large number of cylinder options.
Set up Configuration
In the ‘Manage Presses’ screen, the list displays the number of ‘Options’ defined under the Base Configuration:
Access to the options is via the drop-down selector from within the press details screen
When an option is selected from the list,
access to the ‘Only Price when Selected’ switch is available for that option (this setting is not available on the Base Configuration):
Without this setting enabled, all active press options are priced in the quote calculation process:
The number of presses returned can be vastly reduced by:
Enabling the ‘Only price when selected’ switch on the press options you do not want to calculate all the time.
In the below example:
We have prefixed several press cylinder options with
‘m_’ (to show it requires manual selection) and checked ON the option to ‘Only price when selected’.
When quoting, if only a small number of common options are set to always quote.
The options set to ‘Only Price When Selected’ are ignored.
For any of these options to be quoted, you must select that option in the quotes ‘Production Method’:
After selecting the press option, only that option will be calculated, and the number of production paths are greatly reduced:
