Content
This resource covers common errors with Simplified Sessions that are Type: Simplified session and how to spot them.
In this document the term quick quotes will be used to describe filtered simplified/quick quotes.

Type: Single Product Creation session and Import Plus session (CSV) will be covered in other resources.

Step 1: Recreate quote as a custom quote

If a quick quote is failing to get a price, it is important to recreate the quote using custom quotes. The custom quote selections and specifications must match the selections and specifications defined on the quick quote. If the custom quote fails to price as well, the issue is most likely a setup issue in press, process, stock or pricing components. Please refer to the resource Common Quote Errors and How to Troubleshoot (Custom Quotes) for tips on how to troubleshoot custom quotes

If the custom quote prices correctly, there is most likely a setup issue in the quick quote.

Common Quick Quote Errors

Please narrow down your search further to get a product

Please narrow down your search further” is telling us that options have been set up in the quick quote session, but no selection has been made in the filters. In other words, printIQ cannot deliver a price until a selection is made.

In the following example, the quick quote session is setup with multiple color/process options for the user to select:

But in the filter set, there is no Process option to allow the user to select:

To resolve this, add Process to Filter set

This will resolve the error and allow the quick quote to deliver a price:

Notes
Please note, the above example is a straightforward error to troubleshoot. If the quick quote setup you are trying to fix is complicated, the troubleshooting will also become more complicated. Please contact printIQ support if you need help troubleshooting a complicated quick quote.

It is best practice to create operation groups for each filter selection on a quote, especially if a user has the option to choose 'None' or No Finishing in the filter

Adding operations together as shown in screenshot below, will cause the error “Please narrow down your search further” because both Bundle and Machine Drill have component references. The user needs a filter for each operation to be able to price the quote correctly.

No quote is displayed

If no quote is displaying for a customer, but the quote works for other customers, it is most likely a Pricelist issue. Ensure the customer has the correct Pricelist assigned to be able to use the product.
Info
This issue often happens when a new customer has been created.

Failed to get price for product

When the quote displays a failed to get price error and the same specifications work in a custom quote, the issue is most likely in the setup of the session. This is where troubleshooting can get more difficult because there are many ways the setup can cause a Failed to get price error.

Manage Product Session

A good place to start is to check that the session(s) assigned to the product look correct.
Navigate to the manage menu using the cog on the product or via the menu navigation

If you use the cog, the sessions for that product will display by default. The common error here is that duplicate sessions are active against the product when they shouldn’t be.
This unintentional duplication can happen if the session has been edited and then saved in more than one browser tab or window. The risk here is that each session may have slightly different options available and cause a conflict and deliver a failed to get price error.

If there are duplicate sessions, you can discard the unneeded session(s).

IdeaSession Names and descriptions: If a product has more than one session associated with it, it is important to name the session using clear descriptions. Session names like “session1” and “session2” don’t describe how the session has been configured. If printIQ support or your colleagues needs to work on this product, it is a time-consuming task to go through the product and figure out how it is configured. Clear names and descriptions save time.

Selections in a session
There are many selection options that can cause a quote to fail. If the quick quote fails to get a price, the best thing to do it test the custom quote using the same selections set in the session. This means if any of the fields below have selections in them, that same option needs to be define in the custom quote.

Product Categories

The product category setup can also affect quoting. In the screen shots below, Filter products have been nested under other Filter products. In most cases straightforward Filter products should be nested under Product Category Type: Category with the folder icon.
