Setting Side-Specific Press Spoils
PRESS SPOILS – Side Specific
By default, printIQ uses the reverse side of the front spoils as spoils for the reverse side makeready. The only time additional reverse side spoils are added is based on the % option.
Example of a plate spoil setup:
First Plate x100 spoils
Subsequent Plates x50 Spoils
Front: CMYK (4 plates) – Back: Blank (0 plates)
The spoils would total 270 sheets (100 first plate, 150 for three plates plus 2% of 1002 for an additional 20 sheets)
On a quote for 1000 press sheets with the process setup of:
Front: CMYK (4 plates) – Back: Black (1 plates)
The spoils would total 290 sheets (100 first plate, 150 for three plates plus 2% of 1000 for each side adds an additional 40 sheets)
On a quote for 1000 press sheets with the process setup of:
Front: CMYK (4 plates) – Back: CMYK (4 plates)
The spoils would total 290 sheets (100 first plate, 150 for three plates plus 2% of 1000 for each side an additional 40 sheets)
The same setup with the option ‘Side Specific’ checked ON with make the spoils for plates unique to each side (as opposed to using the reverse side of the front spoils):
*NOTE: For ‘Sheetwork’ presses when using the ‘side specific’ checkbox you must add a spoils component linked to the process of ‘Blank’ (or what name you use on your site for no printing) that has 0 spoils set. Without doing this any spoils % will be added to the back*
The same quote recalculated is now:
On a quote for 1000 press sheets with the process setup of:
Front: CMYK (4 plates) – Back: Blank (0 plates)
The spoils would total 270 sheets (100 first plate, 150 for three plates plus 2% of 1000 for an additional 20 sheets)
As the back is ‘Blank’ and no plates are required the spoils stay the same as previous:
On a quote for 1000 press sheets with the process setup of:
Front: CMYK (4 plates) – Back: Black (1 plates)
The spoils would total 390 sheets (100 for first FRONT plate, 150 for three subsequent FRONT plates plus 100 for first REVERSE plate and 2% of 1000 for each side adds an additional 40 sheets)
On a quote for 1000 press sheets with the process setup of:
Front: CMYK (4 plates) – Back: CMYK (4 plates)
The spoils would total 540 sheets (100 for first FRONT plate, 150 for three subsequent FRONT plates plus 100 for first REVERSE plate, 150 for three subsequent REVERSE plates and 2% of 1000 for each side adds an additional 40 sheets)
