Finishing Spoils by Length (Section and Side operations only)

Finishing Spoils by Length (Section and Side operations only)

Finishing Spoils by Length (Section and Side operations only)

With Section and Side operations you can now specify Finishing Spoils by Lineal Meter with a value for Setup Length Spoils.

This setting is in meters (when Metric units of measure are used) or feet (when Imperial units of measure are used)

This applies to both Sheet and Reel stocks.

For Sheet stock, the number of meters is calculated based on the non-leading dimension of the sheet.

For Continuous stock, the number of meters is calculated from the number of impressions (Repeats) required to use the amount set in the Setup Length Spoils.

When used in conjunction with Min and Max No. of Sheets, for reel stocks, the Sheet Length is the ‘Repeat’ length of the job being printed.

This means for jobs of the same quantity the Number of Sheets is consistent, the actual amount of stock calculated will be determined by the Repeat Length which is variable, job to job.

The Setup Length Spoils is a fixed length of stock – irrespective of the repeat length.

A smaller repeat will report more spoil ‘Sheets’ than a job with a larger repeat, yet the Length of the spoils is the same.

In the above example every job will have 25 meters of spoils regardless of the repeat length.

Using Min and Max Quantities, you will encounter the same issue as above as the finished size is not a consideration at this time.

Min and Max Print Area would offer the smoothest relationship between the amount of stock used and the length of spoils required.

Calculations

If Setup Spoils are used, the Setup Length Spoils are ignored.

The Rate % is applied first to the calculated stock requirement, followed by the Setup Spoils or Setup Length Spoils added to the total.
