Define Descriptions

Define Descriptions

In printIQ you can customise the job descriptions that are created when a quote is produced.

The 'Descriptions' screen is located under:
Admin - Factory Capabilities - Descriptions

Click on 'Templates':

You can have different description structures for the invoice or the quote/job screen.
Create the 'Quote Screen' option first:

Click the 'Eyeglass' icon to open the details page where you can build and adjust the setup:

From here you will see the below screen:

The 'Description' gives the template a name.
The main part of the template builder is in the 'Product Template' and 'Section Template' fields.
The 'Product Template' field contains the main details of the job such as the size and job operations used in the quote.
The 'Section Template' field contains the stocks, pages, folds, size and section operations used in the quote.

The descriptions are built using a combination of static text and 'placeholders' that, when applied,
pull through descriptions from other sections of printIQ.

The placeholders available are as per listed. To use one, copy it from the list and paste in the required place in the template:

As an example, I have three option created, Default, Booklets and Folded:

See below what the template looks like and what the description on the quote looks like:

*Using the placeholder {JobFinishing} will group all ‘Job Finishing’ operations together:

If you want to separate out ‘pre-production job operations’ from ‘production job operations’.
You can use the placeholder {PreProductionOperations} and {ProductionOperations} in place of {JobFinishing}.
This is useful when you want the pre-production operation to show at the top of the description and the productionoperations at the bottom of the description.

In your ‘Product Template’ field, add the {PreProductionOperations} and {ProductionOperations} placeholder where you would like them to show:

Any operation flagged as ‘In pre-production’ will group via the {PreProductionOperations} placeholder:

The final description will split the two types of production operations:

Description templates are attached to 'Tree Nodes' by selecting the required options under the 'Tree Node' selector on the description screen:

Description Groups
We also have the option of linking operations to description groups. This allows you to group operations together in the quote’s description:

You can make new groups or rename existing ones.
Within an operation, you can link the operation to the required group:

When added to a quote, the operations will be grouped next to the heading of the description group as
shown in the 'Pre-Press:' example below:
