After the consignment has been created…
Clicking the label file will automatically download it, send it to the printer and delete it from your downloads folder.
Please contact your printIQ Support Representative to activate this feature.
The Label Printer must be shared on the Windows network.
We recommend sharing the printers with meaningful names like ‘FedEx’ or ‘UPS’ or ‘DispatchLabel’ so they can be identified easily on the network.
See the article https://pureinfotech.com/share-usb-printer-network-windows-10/ for assistance in setting this up.
Ensure the setting UPS_FedEx_Label_Extension_Override is enabled…
Any PC that you wish to produce the FedEx or UPS dispatch labels from need to have the following steps carried out on them.
Download the file printIQDesktopConnector.zip to a permanent folder on the local PC.
Extract printIQDesktopConnector.EXE
This will create a printIQDesktopConnector.INI file in the same folder.
Open the INI file to edit and update the printer name for the sections [FedEx] and [UPS]
If using different printers, the names will be different…
If using the same printer, both sections will point to the same shared printer…
If you want to refer to a printer elsewhere on the network or with a different name, open the printIQDesktopConnector.ini file and change the value of PrinterName in each section (FedEx/UPS) to match your shared printers
Once the file is downloaded, setup chrome to automatically open .fedex/.ups files so you don't need any extra clicks to print the files.
See docs for how to do that here: https://www.alphr.com/automatically-open-downloads-chrome/
To print the freight labels, after creating the consignment, simply click the label file as if to download it…
This will download it to your Downloads folder.
Note: The printIQ setting UPS_FedEx_Label_Extension_Override will append “.fedex” or “.ups” to the generated label.
Once downloaded, Chrome will ‘open’ the file using the configuration in the printIQDesktopConnector.ini file and send the file to the appropriate label printer.
