Stock rates are used when quoting and allow you to specify stock pricing by quantity break as well as by Customer or a combination of the two.
On the Stock x Stock Size modal screen there is a ‘Rate Information’ tab…
These rates are used for the stock on a quote before any other pricing adjustments are made.
There are a few things to be aware of when setting these entries up.
When setting non-customer specific pricing rates, you MUST enter the HIGHEST rate into the stock items’ Charge field on the ‘Required Fields’ tab.
The reason for this is printIQ will always price the cheapest option.
As the main stock definition screen cannot specify a quantity range, any calculations not satisfied by the Rates records added to the stock item, are ‘caught’ by the main Stock x Stock Size record.
In our example, the highest price this stock will be charged at is the 29 cents entered in the stock record…
(This does NOT include any Customer specific records, which will not look to the Stock price unless no other Rate records satisfy)
Effectively the Stock x Stock Size price acts as a ‘Catch All’.
The entry below will charge 0.0345 cents per sheet when the sheet quantity is between 500 and 999…
After entering a range of price breaks, the rules look like this…
In this instance, if a quote is created requiring less than 500 sheets, the full rate of 0.38 cents on the Stock x Stock Size record is used.
To set specific rates for customers, add rate entries as above, including the Customer name.
If the quantity used on the quote for the specified customer is not catered for, then the standard pricing rates are used.
Adding a rate for customer Test Retailer.
Here the sheet range is from 5000-9999 and this customer will be charged for full packs (rather than individual sheets)…
And the resulting rules now display as…
When a quote is created for Test Retailer using this stock, the pricing used on the quote will reflect the rules set above…
For a quantity of just over 100 sheets none of the Rates rules are applicable, so the main price of 0.38 per sheet on the stocks definition is used for the calculation…
As the quantity requirement increases, the Rate rules start to come into effect.
We have gone thru the 500 sheet threshold, and the per sheet price has dropped to 0.345 per sheet…
And when the sheet count exceeds 1000, the price again drops…
Finally when the required sheets is more than 5000, the customer specific pricing rule is used…
Note, in this case, while the customer is getting a good rate on the stock, they are being charged for Whole Packs of 500 sheets.
Carrying this on, once we have exceeded the 9999 sheets upper limit for this customer, the pricing will revert back to either the 10k-19999 rate or the >20k rate depending on the required quantity.
