QUOTING - Auto Tiling

QUOTING - Auto Tiling

Auto Tiling Oversized Jobs

Setup Requirements:

  1. Under Admin>Configure Factory>Presses
update the Press definition of the relevant presses to Enable Tiling and set an Overlap size.

  1. Save the press definition.

Custom Quoting with Auto Tiling:

When creating a custom/bespoke quote for a tiled product, there are some specific details that must be provided.

  • Which ‘Auto Tile Enabled’ Press it is going to be printed on.
  • Which stock size you are going to use.

Begin at the top of the Quote Screen and work your way down…

Select the stock, front and reverse processes and any section operations required.

In the Production Method drop down, select the Press you have enabled for Auto Tiling.
Click the orange spanner next to it to configure the rest of the Auto Tiling details…

Select the Stock Size to use.

If it is to be Tiled, select Tile – and to automatically calculate the drops, select Auto…

Continuing down the quote screen enter the job’s finished size…

You will notice that as soon as you click ‘Add’ the system uses the finished size and sheet size to calculate the tiling and populates the tiling fields.

Finally enter a quantity and select any Job Operations to be applied, click Get Price.

When looking at the printing price details, the Web Trim Length is 8510 (adding a 5mm grip at each end). There are 4 drops (finished sheets), each of which is imposed 1 up at 1412.5x8500.

Auto Tiling with Sheet Stock.

On a job with a finished size of 4500 x 1850, using an SRA2 stock, IQ calculates that this can be achieved with 28 sheets per product…

Note: IQ calculates the width and depths to be the same – all drops are the same size.

Simplified Quotes with Auto Tiling

Setting up a Simplified session for auto tiling requires a little extra care and attention.

The press itself must be configured to allow tiling (see Setup Requirements above)

There are two means of configuring a Simplified Product:

  1. Session Definitions
  2. CSV Upload

We’ll look at setting up auto tiling in both.

Session Definitions

When you define your simplified session; in the Section Options you will need to set the Preferred Press and Preferred Stock Size.

When the Preferred Stock Size has been set, the ‘Enable Auto Tiling switch is activated and can be enabled. The Auto Tiling Overlap can be set for the session. If left blank it will use the Press overlap setting…

A critical step is to enable the setting ‘Only Price Preferred’

Note: If there is more than one Stock to select from, and the stocks do not come in the same size, a new session will need to be created for each size of stock to be optioned.

As this is being tiled your Custom Size settings should be set to allow for large tiled products.

e.g. here we are allowing for Custom Sizes from 0.1m X 0.1m to 10m X 10m…

Note: The ‘hint’ for the min and max custom size is set on the Product Category node.

CSV Upload Products

The product import CSV V2 has been expanded to allow you to add a lot more detail to each product.

The column ‘SectionType’ is the key identifier when the CSV is being imported that a new section definition is about to begin. There is no limit on the number of sections you can have in a product.

The same applies to the pricing columns.

You can add as many as you wish – but they MUST be all together and paired with the related quantities.

This is a basic example of a Tiled Banner upload showing the minimum fields required to create it…

All unused fields have been removed from the template.

This still loads fine, creating 2 tiled simplified products.

Simplified Quote

Select the tile product and select or enter the filter values

Select the other options as required…

Click ‘Get Price’

Look at the Pricing Details to see how the product has been calculated.

Checking the paper stock draw, we can see that 29 metres have been charged…

The specified Finished Size entered above was 9500 X 7860

Looking at the Printing details, we see that it has calculated 3 finished sheets

The Web Trim Length is 9506 – which is the custom size width plus the grips for the press (3mm each) and it is being imposed at 2653.33x9500 with 3 sheets to make up the tiling.

The imposition size also includes the 50mm overlap as set on the session definition.

Impo width 2653.33 * 3 panels = 7959.99 total width

Minus 50mm overlap * 2 = 100mm

            7959.99 – 100 = 7859.99 rounded to 7860mm
