A ‘Product Range’ is a method of
configuring ranges where the production of all items within the range is
identical (apart from maybe the colours/PMS inks used). These range includes
multiple items all with different artwork.
Using a product range allows the items to be quickly reordered by sales staff
or even directly by the customer. This is commonly used by label printers for
reordering of previously printed labels within specific range.
You can take an existing quote you
originally created for the initial production run or create a new quote just
for this setup process.
The quote should contain all the production details and operations required to
produce the job on the shop floor.
In the example we have the stock, print process, link to existing die and
production finishing operations such as laminating and diecutting. We also
include ‘workflow’ based operations such as imposition and planning and we have
the 4 kinds of artwork that was originally quoted:
From the ‘Order Details’ screen, click the
triangle in the top right:
*In general, if the initial quote was setup correctly, you will only need to view this screen as all the information will be prepopulated from the quote. You can access this screen at any time to make alterations.
Select Existing SPC
If you choose to link to an existing SPC, you will see a search field:
Find the SPC session you want to use as the
production base:
Once done click on the ‘Product Range
Details’ to move to the next screen in the wizard:
The details related to the ‘Product Range’ kit are configured here. Most fields will be pre-populated, and you have the option to override:
You can override the Code, Name and Description:
You need to link it to an existing ‘Product Category’ tree node for quoting access. You can also click the link to create a new product category if required:
Single Unit Price (Only available when quoting via simplified/quick quotes)
When selected the ‘Price’ field opens. Enter the price per individual unit:
Unit Price By Quantity (Only available when
quoting via simplified/quick quotes)
When selected, an additional ‘Quantities’ tab displays at the top of the
screen:
This is used to enter pricing by quantity breaks:
Production based pricing (Available when
quoting via custom or simplified/quick quotes)
With this option the order is priced using the quote pricing generated by
printIQ:
The range can be flagged as ‘Order Via
Custom Quote’ (only works with pricing option ‘Production Based Pricing’).
You must also select the default custom template to be used:
This forces the range to be ordered by an internal staff member via custom quoting only. This would be used in more complex ranges for example where there are multiple PMS inks involved, and an experienced estimator is required to quote the correct layup of items and any additional plates and press plate changes that may be required.
When generating an order, the ‘Add Simplified Product’ option would be inaccessible:
A master range icon can be uploaded using a .jpg or .png:
Click on the ‘Item Details’ to move to the last section in the wizard:
This will pull through any kinds set
against the original quote.
Click on the ART icons to attach the artwork:
You can also change/add to the Name,
Description, PMS Notes, SKU and Unique ID:
You can add new items that did not exist on the original quote or add existing item to the range you are working on by using the ‘+’ option:
‘Create New’ will dropdown the ‘Creating product range item’ modal:
‘Add existing’ will open access to search and select from your current library of product items:
Once done, click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the modal:
You can now order items via simplified/quick quoting or from the ‘Product Catalogue’:
EDITING/OPTIONS
Edit a Product Range:
You can access the product range for editing for multiple areas in printIQ.

You can access basic components of the range here such as the details, items (add and remove items) and any pricing qty breaks:
There is a quick access link to ‘Edit Parent Product’:
This takes you to the wizard where you can do
advanced editing such as changing the ‘Product Specification’ setup:
You can access the ‘Product Range’ directly by starting a quote on the required range and using the ‘cog’ to go to the range:
NOTE: User roles of ‘Admin’ or ‘Site Admin’
are required to access the ‘Edit Cogs’ when quoting.
User role access can be expanded via the setting ‘Product Range Roles’.
Contact support if you would like the roles changed:
From the ‘Product Range Items’ screen you can select an item using the ‘Edit’ icon:
In the modal you can edit the individual item, add it to another range or edit the existing range using the ‘Edit’ icon:
In this example, we want to remove the SKU

Open the ‘Product Range Items’ screen:
Click the + button to make a new SKU:
Enter the item details and update the SKU to the new number/reference:
