PRODUCT CATALOGUE – Create and Edit a Product Range

A ‘Product Range’ is a method of configuring ranges where the production of all items within the range is identical (apart from maybe the colours/PMS inks used). These range includes multiple items all with different artwork.
Using a product range allows the items to be quickly reordered by sales staff or even directly by the customer. This is commonly used by label printers for reordering of previously printed labels within specific range.

To create a ‘Product Range’, you always start with a quote or an existing ‘SPC’ session.

Starting with a Existing Quote

You can take an existing quote you originally created for the initial production run or create a new quote just for this setup process.
The quote should contain all the production details and operations required to produce the job on the shop floor.
In the example we have the stock, print process, link to existing die and production finishing operations such as laminating and diecutting. We also include ‘workflow’ based operations such as imposition and planning and we have the 4 kinds of artwork that was originally quoted:

From the ‘Order Details’ screen, click the triangle in the top right:

STEP 1 – Product Specifications

Click on ‘Product Specifications’ to open the setup details.
You have two initial options:

Configure Product – This uses the existing quote as the base for the product range
Select Existing SPC – This allows you to link the product range to an existing SPC item.
*This is useful when you have multiple different ranges that all have the same production method. You can link a single existing SPC to many ranges. If there is ever a change in the production such as a stock becomes unavailable, you can update the one SPC session and all ranges linked will be updated.

Configure Product
All the inputs from the quote are pre-populated and can be updated if required (they can also be accesses and updated later as requirements may change over time).
The screen is split into multiple sections:

Session Details
You can select to ‘Bypass Artwork Submission’. Check this ON if the artwork is to always use the art linked to the ‘Product Range Items’. Leave this off if the artwork will change and is required to be uploaded once the order is converted into a job.
You can also add product specific ‘Production Notes’ and well as ‘PMS NOTES’ information if required (these can also be pulled from the individual range items if they are different at an item-to-item level).
Carton selection and item qty per carton can also be configured here:

Product Definition
This relates to the ‘Job’ components of the original quote.
Here you can change the finished size, add/remove job base operations and set various other overrides that you have access to via custom quoting:

Section Definitions
This relates to all ‘Side’ and ‘Section’ based options.
As per the custom quote you can alter stocks, colours, operations, and imposition-based overrides:

*In general, if the initial quote was setup correctly, you will only need to view this screen as all the information will be prepopulated from the quote. You can access this screen at any time to make alterations.

Select Existing SPC

If you choose to link to an existing SPC, you will see a search field:

Find the SPC session you want to use as the production base:

Production based pricing (Available when quoting via custom or simplified/quick quotes)
With this option the order is priced using the quote pricing generated by printIQ:

The range can be flagged as ‘Order Via Custom Quote’ (only works with pricing option ‘Production Based Pricing’).
You must also select the default custom template to be used:

This forces the range to be ordered by an internal staff member via custom quoting only. This would be used in more complex ranges for example where there are multiple PMS inks involved, and an experienced estimator is required to quote the correct layup of items and any additional plates and press plate changes that may be required.

When generating an order, the ‘Add Simplified Product’ option would be inaccessible:
