PLATES - Create material and link to press - NEW 2018 OPTION

PLATES - Create material and link to press - NEW 2018 OPTION

Plates need to be created as 'Raw Materials' then linked to a 'Section' operation. Then they can be linked to the required press.

To create the plate go to Admin>Configure Factory>Raw Material

From here, under 'Equipment' select 'Raw Material Admin':

From the 'Raw Materials' screen, click 'New Material':

Enter the detail for the plates such as the code, description and pricing. The main component to select here is the correct 'Calc Type' from the dropdown list.
For a standard offset plate, you would select the option of 'Plate per unit':

**There are 3 different 'plate' material options you can choose from depending on how you want the plate to calculate:

Plate Finish Area m2 - This looks at the finished size of the individual job to determine the size of the plate required

Plate Sheet Area m2 - This looks at the print sheet size to determine the size of the plate required
The two options above would be used where the plate material is cut down to size from a 'parent' plate

Plate per unit - This charges at a per plate cost. The number of plates required looks at the process mappings to the press

Once all the fields are filled out, click 'Create Material':

Now the material is created, we need to make an 'operation' so we can attach the plates and add additional information such as

platemaking labour, costs and times.

Under 'Admin', 'Configure Factory' go to 'Job Operations':

Click on 'Add an operation':

Fill out the below details on the new operations.
Important fields are circled below:
Name & Description - Use an naming format that relates to the type of plate being used
Hide from filter (Simplified & Custom) - As these plate operations will be linked directly to the presses, there is no need to add them manually to a quote. With this in mind, we can select to 'hide' these operations
Operation Type - This must be set to 'Section'
Schedule Category - Set this to 'Pre-Press' so it will show on the production boards
Plate Operation - This must be checked 'On' for it to be able to link to a press. Note that this option will only show on the screen once the 'Operation Type' of 'Section' is selected
Type - Select 'Other Section Finishing'

Once the operation is created, from the dropdown, select 'Components':

From here, select a 'machine' such as your plate machine and link the plate 'material set'.

There is a section called 'Plating Options' where you can specify how many plates an hour your machine can produce.
You also have the option of adding quantity breaks to this if required.

Also add in a make ready time and an hourly rate:

Once saved, the component line will be added to the bottom of the screen:

Now the operation is created, we need to link the 'operation' to the press.

Under Admin>Configure Factory>Presses

From the press list, click on the name of the press you want to link the plate operation to:

Under the 'PLATING OPERATIONS' dropdown, select the plate operation required and save:

Now when quoting, the plate operation will be added automatically:
