OPERATIONS - Die Library Setup

OPERATIONS - Die Library Setup

Setup process

First we create a die library operation as a ‘Section’ type operation. This allows us to apply the die at the section level:  DIE CYL Rectangle – Cylinder Rectangles

Then inside the operation's detail screen, I can use two fields to add information.

The first dropdown filters out the second.
So for example in the first I call it 'Unit Width x Depth - Machine'.
This will be used as a reference to the job size.

The second I call 'Cyl-Cnr-Ori- a/x/ga/gx -Material'.
This is specific information a estimator would need to be able to see in order to be able to select the best die for the job. This info will change based in the company and their requirements.

The example represents Cylinder type / Corner Radius / Orientation / number around the cylinder / number across the cylinder / gap between items around cylinder / gap between items across the cylinder / Material used:

Imposition components screen:
Now go into the operation's ‘Components’ screen:

First add a pricing line in at $0 (or add a price if required). The operation will fail if we do not add some price to it.

Now change the top option in green from ‘Other Section Finishing’ to ‘Imposition Requirements’:

IMPOSITION BLOCK -

This is what determines how IQ calculates the layout.
The BLOCK SIZE is the size you will cut the SHEET down to for die-cutting (needs to include and grip and lays).
It is not for the physical size of the die block itself.

In the below example, the width of the roll is 250mm.

With 2 blocks of 8up side by side (Width 118 x Depth 245), there is 16up on the width of the roll.

With a job qty of 5000.

5000/8up = 625 individual blocks required
printed 2 blocks across = 312.5 blocks. Round up to 313.
313 x block depth of 254mm = 79.5 meters.

IQ is quoting 81.09. This is including spoils/makereadys:

REFERENCE & GROUP -
This is the information that is linked to the previous heading we entered on the details screen.
The first option filters the second:

When applied to a quote, the above shows as below.
You will see the headings we entered and the corresponding details that are attached to individual component records inside the operation.

Making the selections here tell IQ what component line to pull the imposition information (which we will enter next) from.

IMPOSITION INFO -
This is purely for reference purposes and does not affect the imposition of the die.
This info is not compulsory to fill out.

The imposition info is more for Pre-Press. It is not part of the calculation as that comes from the number up and the imposition block and depth.
The gap is just to specify the 'double cuts'.

If you need to add any additional generic information that may relate to other departments, we have two 'Description' fields.
