Deactivating Inventory Locations

Deactivating Inventory Locations

Inventory location definitions can be flagged as inactive.

Stocks held within Inactive Locations can still be accessed and are included in QoH calculations. You just cannot increase the quantity except via Stock Adjustment

On the 'Manage Inventory Location' screen there is a switch to show inactive locations (off by default).

They are denoted by the candy stripe across the entry...

When a location is created, it is set as Active by default. It can only be deactivated from within the Manage Location modal…

Wise Words

  • When a location is deactivated, all child locations under it are also deactivated. Conversely, when a location is activated, all child locations are also re-activated.

  • A new location cannot be placed into an inactive location.

  • Stocks cannot be receipted into an Inactive location without first re-activating the location.

This does not affect the Quantity on Hand displayed for various inventory items throughout the system.

  • You can still pick stock from inactive locations.

  • When picking stock from an inactive location, it appears as normal…

And the stock at that location can be picked.

  • You can use Item transfer to transfer stock FROM an inactive location. However you cannot transfer stock TO an inactive  location.

The inactive locations are simply not available to select as the destination location in a transfer.

  • Adjustments can be made to inactive locations.
