Define warehouse mapping options

Configuring Freight Warehouse Mappings

Warehouse mappings can be made to set which warehouse to pick a sales item from, based on the orders’ delivery postcode.

Warehouse mapping options

Talk to your Service Delivery representative/Support team regarding getting this feature enabled.

There are 5 options as to how you want it to behave. Please let us know which option below matches your requirements.

  1. Always nearest warehouse regardless of whether it is mapped to the items, else unassigned
  2. Nearest warehouse that is mapped to the items, else unassigned
  3. Nearest warehouse that can fulfil the order, else unassigned.
  4. Nearest warehouse or any warehouse mapped to the items, else unassigned.
  5. Nearest warehouse or warehouse that can fulfil the order, else unassigned.

Picking order

When picking the order, the Warehouse Location can be over-written by the user in order to fulfil the order from a different location.

Setup

When setting up Warehouse Mappings in Freight Admin, the highest level inventory locations are brought thru to select from.

Click the ‘+’ to add a new Warehouse Mapping.

Give it a name and select the top-level location from the drop-down list…

Save and close.

This creates the mapping for Boise, Idaho…

The next thing to do is add the Post / Zip code ranges that this warehouse will dispatch to.

These can be applied as a range…

Or individually…

The entered value appear on the screen…

Warehouse Assignment

Once the warehouse mappings have been defined the store items will show the warehouse’s that hold available (unreserved) stock of the item as well as the quantity for each warehouse…

If reserved stocks are enabled, then these figures will show the available quantities at each location.

These figures are informative only and are not editable or intractable.

The sum of these locations is shown in the green field under the quantity ordered.

Placing an order is just the same – enter the quantities and add to the cart. Then checkout.

Delivery Address

In the delivery address I selected an address from Boise Idaho…

And proceeded through to the checkout.

Because the Zip code on my delivery address, 83735 falls within the Idaho postal range for the Boise warehouse, the Sales Order will be picked from that site.

Overriding the warehouse mapping

On the sales order there is field called Assigned Warehouse which will have the default warehouse selected.

You can override the pre-defined warehouse with another warehouse if required.

*Note: Changing the assigned warehouse will not update the 'dispatch' delivery location. This would have to be changed via a freight edit.
