How to Set Up CWT Paper Pricing

Setting Up and Using CWT Paper Pricing

Many suppliers use CWT paper (price per 100 pounds) pricing in their pricing lists.
CWT stands for "centum weight," which is another term for "hundredweight." Certain materials like paper are sold by the CWT, which is the cost of the unit per 100 pounds (which is irrespective of size)
It makes it easier for paper suppliers to give their prices this way as they don't need to break down the pricing per sheet size, they can provide the price per 100 lbs which covers all the sheet sizes within a family.

To set up paper pricing by CWT follow these steps:

Create the Unit Type

  1. Go to the admin Menu
  2. Select on Inventory Types

      3. Enter the information for the unit type:
Creating an Inventory Unit Type
a. Choose Imperial
b. Choose weight
c. Choose LBs as the unit of measure
d. Type "CWT" for the unit type
e. Enter 100 for the value (ie. 100 lbs)

HIT THE CREATE BUTTON

Create Your Stock

1. Set the Default Unit Type as CWT:
Set the Unit Type
NOTE: if you have a lot of unit types, you might need to type CWT in to the unit type, as there is a limitation of how many that will display at a time.

2. When you create the individual stock size - choose the ORDER IN UNITS of as CWT, and enter the CWT price:

Be sure to check the Manage By Weight if you want your inventory to display by "lbs/kgs"

The charge unit will be the price per 1 sheet, and you will be able to pick the stock "per sheet" and charge "per sheet".
The Paper section of your quote will show both the CWT price and the Price per 1000 sheets (no the ones in the example below are not accurate - incase you are doing the math)

The print area will show the Sheet information:

Stock Export and Price Updating

You will not be able to use the BULK stock update feature if pricing using CWT, but you can export the stock spreadsheet and update the stock from there.

When exporting the paper It is the Order Unit and Cost Price that are the CWT. If you are changing the pricing over to CWT you would use these two areas:
Stock Export Spreadsheet
You can change the CWT price and then re-import the stock spreadsheet.

Purchasing when CWT is used

When creating a purchase order, your order unit will be set to CWT, however this is probably not the way you will order.
You will be able to change to per each (/1) and put in the individual sheet price.
Purchase Order Screen
1. You will see the sheets required in the blue area
2. Change the units from CWT to /1
3. Enter the quantity of sheets
4. Enter the price per sheet
5. Create your purchase order

If you want to purchase by CWT

If you want to purchase by CWT you now can.

Be sure to check the Manage By Weight in your stock record if you want your inventory to display by "lbs/kgs"

Create the purchase order and order using the CWT (ie. 20,000 lbs would be 200 CWT)

You would receive 200CWT as well.
Your inventory will now display in LBS:
