Barcode Creation-Mapping
In printIQ there is the ability to produce barcodes for Inventory Items and Inventory Locations.
However, when receiving goods from suppliers, the supplier’s product barcode (where provided) will likely not match the details of the item in printIQ.
You can now map the suppliers’ product barcode to that particular inventory item in your system.
Once mapped, when receiving that stock from your supplier, you can scan the suppliers’ barcode to bring the stock details up in printIQ in the Inventory Scanning screen.
To link an unrecognised barcode to an existing inventory item, open the Inventory Scanning screen.
There are three transaction types you can perform on this screen:
Select Barcode Link to establish the link between the supplier barcode and your inventory item.
Then it is simply a case of pairing the suppliers’ barcode with the Inventory Item.
Either scan the printIQ generated barcode for the inventory item, or select the ‘Manual Scan Mode’ to enter the barcode details manually. You must prefix the Stock Item name with ‘ii’ (‘I’nventory ‘I’tem)
An entry will appear on the screen with the details of what was scanned…
Next simply scan the suppliers’ barcode to link it with this inventory item.
This inventory items details will be brought up when EITHER of the barcodes are now scanned.
An inventory item can only have 1 mapping to an external barcode.
Repeating the above process with a different supplier barcode will update the mapping and the original supplier barcode entered will no longer be recognised.
Inventory Item barcodes can be produced from within the items Inventory definition in the ‘Print Label’ tab.
